Lingcove Bridge and Waterfalls

We reach Lingcove Bridge and things start to feel different as we climb deeper into the mountains, having to tread more carefully as we pick our way up alongside even more spectacular falls until eventually reaching a much flatter section of the river valley that feels almost out of place this high up with large sweeping river bends and boggy river banks (see below).

The path crosses the bridge over Lingcove Beck and rises along side the Esk Gorge (excellent scramble in summer). The Great Moss is soon reached, this is a large boggy area, the path follows the river for another 1.5km then soon after the giant Samson stones are passed on the far side of the river, cross over to reach the foot of Cam Spout crag.

17 September 2023 The Eskdale Cave Waterfall is one of the most unique in the Lake District. It hides in plain sight, very close to the ever popular Tongue Pot, yet remains something of an unknown. The waterfall cascades into a deep luminous green pool where rainbows often form in the spray.

Great little spot with many wild camp opportunities around. Great pools for those who like to swim and nice little waterfalls.
